The Role
The Director of Production serves as the on-set visual lead, overseeing lighting, camera, and composition across all productions. This role bridges creative vision and technical execution, working closely with the Creative Director and Associate Producer to bring ideas to life.
Key Responsibilities
– Lead visual direction on shoots — lighting, framing, and camera execution
– Translate creative concepts into technical plans: shot lists, lighting diagrams, lens selections
– Serve as Lead Cinematographer on most productions; mentor camera and lighting teams
– Scout and prep locations, plan gear and crew needs
– Maintain visual consistency and cinematic quality across all content
– Oversee on-set workflow and camera department operations
– Collaborate with producers on schedules and production efficiency
– Guide and mentor junior shooters and editors
Ideal Candidate
– 3–6 years in cinematography or visual production leadership
– Deep knowledge of lighting, lenses, color, and camera movement
– Skilled with Sony and RED camera systems, professional lighting kits
– Familiar with post workflows (color, LUTs, formats)
– Strong communicator, collaborator, and problem solver
– Bachelor’s degree in Film, Media, or related field preferred
– Willingness to work nights/weekends as needed
